I'm Giovanni (John) I2IFT (also NR3W), on the radio since 1971 as CB (at age 13), but it wasn't enough for me, SWL after a few months, in 1974 I got special license, in 1975 ordinary license, in 1977 finally the call I3IFT and from 1978 member of ARI (Italian Radio Amateurs Association). The desire, or rather the virus, of the contest was transmitted to me by the late great Renzo I3MAU, my neighbor in Padua in the early years of SWL. His “Maryland Alabama Utah” on ARRL phone is an indelible memory for me. My first contest in 1979 WWDX Phone SO10m with a simple GP antenna and The companions of my friend Claudio I3JFU. Transferred to zone 2 in 1990 and new call I2IFT. Numerous (MS) ARI DX contests with my friend Aldo IK2ANI. From 1992 to 1995 numerous WWDX and WPX CW as SO40LP, and then captured, until 1999, by the band of the Berghem Contest Club, MS @ IO2A - Mount Poieto, as a specialist in multiplier hunting (TNX IK2HKT-IK2CIO-IK2RZP and associates). And then, from 2000 to 2005, the Palermo - Naples - Bergamo combination, with hints of OK-W-DL-JA-ZS Hams. The varied group of IH9P from Pantelleria (TNX IT9BLB and associates), author of three consecutive victories in MM-M2-MS Phone (record never equaled) and one in M2 CW, as a specialist in multiplier hunting and as 160m operator. “Hated” for having developed “iron” (maybe !!) race strategies and post contest analysis. Long QRX until 31-01-2015, then from my new urban QTH of Seriate, near the city of Bergamo, 160000 QSOs (only CW), still many, many contests, fun on an industrial scale, some good results, with a simple dynamic vertical antenna and some dipoles. Belove my shack ready for a contest: FT1000D + DSP-599zx + microKEYER II + OM Power 2000A+
